How the cruise parking comparison works

Parking adds more to a cruise than most people expect. A week at a terminal lot can cost as much as a day of shore excursions. This calculator prices three ways to reach the ship: park at the port, park off-site and take a shuttle, or ride both directions with a rideshare.

Port parking is the daily rate times the days counted, plus tax. Many ports count both the arrival day and the return day, so a 7-night cruise bills 8 days. Off-site lots charge their own daily rate and sometimes a shuttle fee. Rideshare is one-way fare times two times the number of cars. The lowest of the three is the result, and all inputs stay editable. Terminal parking is convenient because the lots sit near the ships, but off-site lots often run cheaper and include a shuttle. Always confirm the shuttle schedule and return-day rules before you choose.

Here is the default example, using the Port Canaveral page on file: $20 per day plus tax, arrival and return days included. That is 8 days at $20, about $171 with 7 percent tax. A $12 off-site lot for 8 days is $96, and a $45 rideshare each way is $90 round trip. Rideshare wins in this example at $90 because the fare is low, so edit it to match your distance from the port. Add a second car or a long ride and the answer changes quickly, so always enter your own quote. Ports with a daily rate on file: Port Canaveral, PortMiami, Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Galveston Cruise Terminals, Port Tampa Bay, Cape Liberty (Bayonne), Manhattan Cruise Terminal, New Orleans, Long Beach Cruise Terminal, Port of Los Angeles (San Pedro), Cruise Maryland Terminal (Baltimore), Norfolk (Half Moone Cruise Terminal), JAXPORT Cruise Terminal (Jacksonville), Seattle (Pier 66 and Pier 91), Flynn Cruiseport Boston, Alabama Cruise Terminal, Mobile, Vancouver, Port of Palm Beach, Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

Line-specific and port-specific figures change, so check the port's parking page before you travel. Add the result to the cruise cost calculator. Frequently asked questions

Do I pay for the day I return?

Many ports count both the arrival and the departure day. The port page for Port Canaveral says both days fall inside the daily rate, so choose the nights-plus-1 option.

Is the off-site rate a real quote?

No. It is an editable example. Off-site rates were not verified for the ports on file, so type the quote from the lot you would use.

Can I reserve port parking?

It depends on the port. Port Canaveral states it does not accept reservations. New Orleans charges a small reservation fee. Check your port's page.
