Where these numbers come from

Seattle sells parking at two piers, and the price depends on which one your ship uses. The Port of Seattle lists Pier 66, the Bell Street terminal, at $33 per day through Republic Parking, subject to change. Pier 91, the Smith Cove terminal, starts at $27 per day, and the rate includes fees, taxes, a free shuttle and help with luggage.

A parking booking at one pier will not work at the other, so confirm your terminal in your cruise documents first. A guide on Cruise Day Guide lists Pier 91 for ships such as Royal Caribbean, Holland America and Norwegian vessels, and Pier 66 for others. Ship assignments change by sailing, so do not assume.

A worked example for a 7-night Alaska cruise touching 8 days: Pier 66 at $33 a day is $264, and Pier 91 at the $27 starting rate is $216. The gap is $48. A Pier 91 RV or trailer at $40 a day would be $320. The Pier 91 starting rate may rise for some dates, so check the quote at booking.

The airport sits about 15 miles from downtown, and the port says the drive takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. The Pier 91 page describes the ride from the airport as 30 to 40 minutes by rideshare or taxi. The port also lists light rail, cruise line transfers and shuttles, which can be cheaper than eight days of parking.

Alaska sailings drive Seattle's season. Cruise Day Guide lists Norwegian, Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Holland America and Regent among the operators. The port pages we opened do not list lines, so treat that list as a secondary source and confirm in your booking.

Seattle costs more per day than most ports. See Jacksonville at $17 or Norfolk at $15 for a comparison. Use the cruise parking calculator with your own numbers, or the cruise cost calculator for the whole trip.

One more gotcha is the garage limit. A Seattle guide reports that Pier 66 has a 6 foot 6 inch vehicle height limit, which rules out many vans and trucks with roof gear. Pier 91 is an open lot with no such limit in that guide, so a tall vehicle points you to Smith Cove.
