Where these numbers come from

Oakland's rates, effective July 1, 2025, come in four tiers that all include the City of Oakland parking tax. Premier, the closest lot, tops out at $40. The Hourly lot caps at $36, the Daily lot at $26 and the Economy lot at $18. Premier, Daily and Economy reach their caps after two hours of parking.

Try a four-night trip with four 24-hour periods. Economy costs 4 x $18 = $72, Daily 4 x $26 = $104, Hourly 4 x $36 = $144 and Premier 4 x $40 = $160. Stretch that to seven days and the figures are $126, $182, $252 and $280. For 14 days they become $252, $364, $504 and $560. Premier over Economy costs an extra $308 across two weeks.

The Daily lot is the quiet bargain. It is a 5 to 8 minute walk from the terminal and costs $8 a day more than Economy. Economy includes a shuttle, which adds waiting time. If you land at midnight with a stroller, $56 more over a week to skip the shuttle may be worth it. Premier's extra $14 a day over Daily buys only a shorter walk.

Hourly arithmetic shows why you should not use the Hourly lot for trips. Its cap is $36, yet at $4 per 30 minutes it hits $36 after 4.5 hours. For a three-hour visit, $24 is the charge, but an overnight visit costs $36 against $26 in the Daily lot. Park & Call is a free waiting area with a 30-minute limit for meeting arrivals.

The airport encourages online reservations for discounted rates and accepts cash, cards and Apple Pay or Google Pay. Bay Area travelers can compare San Jose and Sacramento before choosing which airport to fly from. Enter your own dates in the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator to see how these caps compare with a BART ride.

Finish by checking the math on a short trip. A two-night stay in Economy costs 2 x $18 = $36, while the Premier lot costs 2 x $40 = $80, a $44 difference. On a one-night stay, a driver in the Hourly lot who returns in 4 hours pays $32, less than the $36 cap, so short visits and overnight stays have quite different breakeven points.
