Where these numbers come from

Columbus restructured its parking recently. The airport page we read on 2026-09-30 says the Walking Lot permanently closed on May 4, 2026, leaving two garage levels, two shuttle lots and valet. Garage parking charges $7 for the first hour and then a 24-hour maximum: $30 on Level 4 (short-term) and $24 on Levels 1 to 6 (long-term).

A week in the long-term garage is 7 x $24 = $168, versus 7 x $30 = $210 on short-term Level 4, so parking on the lower levels saves $42. The shuttle lots are much cheaper: Red is 7 x $11 = $77 and Green is 7 x $9 = $63. Over 14 days the totals are $336 (long-term garage), $420 (short-term), $154 (Red) and $126 (Green). Green saves $210 against the long-term garage across two weeks.

Valet is the odd one. It costs $18 for the first hour but the 24-hour maximum is $30, the same as the short-term garage. A multi-day valet trip of 7 days therefore comes to 7 x $30 = $210 if you pay the maximum each day, plus any first-hour effect on a same-day stay. On a day trip of a few hours, the valet first hour at $18 is far more than the garage's $7.

Try a 4-day example with a first-hour wrinkle. The long-term garage for 4 days at the maximum is 4 x $24 = $96. The Green Lot is 4 x $9 = $36, and the Red Lot is 4 x $11 = $44. The garage therefore costs $60 more than Green. If the Green Lot shuttle adds 30 minutes of total travel time, that extra time costs about $2 per minute saved by parking in the garage, a steep price.

Green Lot has a helpful quirk: the first hour is complimentary. A quick 55-minute visit costs nothing, while a full day is $9. Both shuttle lots run around the clock, leaving the terminal every 15 to 18 minutes, so allow up to 18 minutes of waiting on top of a ride. The page lists no weekly rate and no effective date, so we use daily math.

Test a private lot against these numbers with the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator. Compare with Cleveland, whose garage is $26 a day, or Indianapolis where the garage is $23.
