Where these numbers come from

Sacramento uses the same $2 per 30 minutes everywhere, then stops at a daily maximum. The maximum is reached fast: after 3.5 hours in Garage 1, 2.5 hours in the daily lot, and 2 hours in the economy lots. Beyond that, each 24-hour period costs $21, $14 or $12. All parking is first come, first served, with no reservations.

Take a four-day trip. Economy costs 4 x $12 = $48, the daily lot 4 x $14 = $56, and Garage 1 4 x $21 = $84. A week becomes $84, $98 and $147. Two weeks cost $168, $196 and $294. The shuttle trade-off is time: economy buses run every 25 to 30 minutes and the airport suggests allowing up to 60 minutes from car to terminal.

The bigger news is the coming change. When the new six-story Garage 2 opens, which the airport lists for fall 2026, economy goes from $12 to $14, the daily lot from $14 to $19 and the garage from $21 to $28. Seven days then cost $98, $133 and $196. The increase on a week in the garage is 196 - 147 = $49.

The airport states there are no further increases in 2027. From January 1, 2028, rates rise $1 a year through 2031. So a driver planning economy parking in 2028 should budget about $15 a day, reaching $18 by 2031 if each step applies as described. Pay at pay-on-foot kiosks if you want to use cash; cards work everywhere.

Sacramento's oversize rule is worth a note: vehicles over 21 feet in the daily lot are charged double. Compared with Oakland and San Jose, Sacramento still has the lowest cap among the three once it passes the two-hour mark. Use the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator to see whether an off-site lot beats the new rates.

Consider a realistic budget for a family trip. Five days in the economy lot cost 5 x $12 = $60 today and 5 x $14 = $70 after the increase, a $10 difference. Add about 60 minutes of travel time at each end. If a cheaper flight saves more than that, economy parking remains one of the lowest fees among large West Coast airports.
