Where these numbers come from

John Wayne Airport keeps its parking menu short: terminal parking, a county-run lot on Main Street in Irvine, and curbside valet. The airport's rate page says the current rates took effect on January 1, 2025, and we checked it on 2026-09-30. Terminal parking costs $4 per hour and $30 per day. The Main Street lot costs $3 per hour and $20 per day, and valet runs $15 per hour and $50 per day.

Here is the arithmetic for a week. Seven days in the terminal structures is 7 x $30 = $210. Seven days at Main Street is 7 x $20 = $140, so the remote lot saves $70. Over 14 days the gap doubles: 14 x $30 = $420 versus 14 x $20 = $280, a $140 difference. Valet for the same two weeks would be 14 x $50 = $700, which is $280 more than Main Street.

The Main Street lot is operated as an airport facility, not a private operator, and the airport describes a courtesy shuttle to the Riley Terminal every 15 minutes from 4:30 a.m. until midnight. That schedule matters for early flights. A 5:30 a.m. departure is fine, but a red-eye landing after midnight means you need another way back to the lot, such as a rideshare, which would eat into the savings.

Watch the hourly math on short trips. At $4 per hour, an 8-hour day trip would add up to 8 x $4 = $32 on hourly arithmetic, which is already above the $30 daily rate. The rate page does not publish a separate daily maximum or weekly rate, so confirm how the gate equipment caps a long stay before you rely on a figure. For multi-day trips, use the daily numbers shown in the table.

Compared with other California airports, SNA's terminal rate is high but its remote option is the cheaper of the two official choices. To compare with a private lot near the airport, enter your dates in the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator. Keep in mind that we did not find a published private-operator range we could verify for SNA, so none is shown here. If you are flying out of a different airport on the same trip, see the Kansas City page for a very different price structure.
