Where these numbers come from

IAH has a clear two-part system. The terminal garages (A/B and C/D/E) charge by the clock and cap at $25 per day. The ecopark lots, located away from the terminals, charge a flat price for any stay from 16 minutes to 24 hours: $10 uncovered, $12 covered. Valet is $30 for a day. The airport quotes both pre-tax and with-tax numbers; the figures here are the with-tax totals you pay at the gate. For example, the garage cap is $23.09 before tax and $25.00 with tax.

Garage timing adds up slowly. The first 10 minutes cost $1, and up to one hour costs $5. After that each 30 minutes adds $2.50. So two hours is $5 + 2 x $2.50 = $10, and four hours is $5 + 6 x $2.50 = $20. A five-hour stay reaches $5 + 8 x $2.50 = $25, which is the cap. Everything after five hours in the same 24-hour period is free.

Over a week the lot choice dominates. The garage at its cap is 7 x $25 = $175. The uncovered ecopark is 7 x $10 = $70, a saving of $105. Covered ecopark is 7 x $12 = $84. A two-week trip doubles these to $350, $140 and $168. Valet for seven days is 7 x $30 = $210, only $35 more than the garage, which can make sense if you land late with heavy bags and want the car brought to you.

The ecopark pages describe a 24-hour shuttle to all terminals. Shuttle waits add time at both ends of the trip, so allow at least 20 to 30 extra minutes. Covered ecopark spaces matter in Houston in summer, when a dashboard can get very hot. The $2 covered premium per day is $14 over a week, which many travelers consider cheap. The ecopark page also lists a different, older-looking pricing structure with pre-tax figures by stay length; we used the main IAH rates page as the current table.

Two more tips. Bring the exact flat price in mind when you compare a nearby hotel lot, because ecopark at $10 a day is already low. Test any off-airport quote in the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator. For another hub with a similar flat-rate economy model, compare the Detroit Metro parking page, where the Green Lot is $20 for 24 hours.
