Where these numbers come from

FLL raised parking prices on November 20, 2024, its first increase since 2015. Long-term parking went from $15 to $20 per day, valet from $25 to $30, and the short-term maximum stayed at $36. All metered parking uses the same tick: $2 for every 20 minutes, and the first 20 minutes are free. The airport said it still wanted to stay at or below the big Florida hubs in Miami, Orlando and Tampa.

The long-term garages, named Hibiscus, Palm and Cypress, are the everyday choice. The $20 cap is reached after ten billing blocks, so after about three hours and twenty minutes you pay no more for the rest of that day. A week is 7 x $20 = $140, and two weeks is $280. The short-term lot caps at $36, so the same week costs 7 x $36 = $252, which is $112 more for what is often a modest walking difference.

Valet is worth a look. At $30 per day, a week is $210 and two weeks $420. That is $70 more than the long-term garage for seven days. For travelers with small children, tight connections or late-night flights, paying the $10 daily premium over long-term can be a fair trade. Check the valet terms for any handling fee before you commit, since the page we read lists only the daily figure.

Short stays show the tick. A three-hour stay in long-term parking is nine 20-minute blocks, about $18 if every block is billed and less if the free first 20 minutes applies. You hit the $20 cap at roughly three hours and twenty minutes. The short-term lot stays cheaper than the cap until six hours, when 18 blocks reach $36. That makes the short-term lot fine for picking up a passenger at arrivals, but expensive for a trip.

FLL is also the gateway to Port Everglades, so cruise travelers should weigh airport parking against the port garages on the Fort Lauderdale cruise port page. To compare an off-airport lot with the $140 weekly long-term figure, use the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator. A very different price ladder is at Minneapolis-St. Paul, where the cap depends on the ramp.
