Where these numbers come from

Celebrity sits between mainstream and luxury. Its ships are newer and more design-focused than a typical family megaship, and the tone is adult and quiet. The fare in a search result is only part of the bill. Three add-ons follow it: the daily gratuity, the 20% charge on purchases, and any drink package you choose.

The home page advertises fares from $371 per person for a Key West and Bahamas sailing up to $1,142 for an Italian and French Riviera route. All of these include taxes and fees, but the page does not state the sailing length, so treat them as starting points rather than a typical week. Promotions change often, for example a discount on a second guest. Use the cruise cost calculator to price the exact cabin you find.

Here is a worked example for two adults on a 7-night Veranda cruise. Gratuities at $19.50 each per day: 2 x 7 x $19.50 = $273. A Classic drink package at a mid-range $70 per day becomes $84 after the 20% charge, so two packages for 7 days cost 2 x 7 x $84 = $1,176. Together the add-ons are $1,449 before the fare. The gratuity calculator and the drink package calculator let you test other figures.

Dress is relaxed but not beachwear. Smart Casual applies in dining rooms and the theater, meaning long pants or jeans and a stylish top. One or two nights per cruise are Evening Chic, when cocktail dresses and blazers are common, although Smart Casual is still accepted. Swimsuits, tank tops, T-shirts, bare feet and baseball caps are not allowed in main and specialty dining.

Cancellation timing depends on length. For North American residents on 5 to 14 night cruises, there is no charge when you cancel 90 or more days out, and the charge reaches 100% inside 30 days. Shorter cruises have a 75-day threshold and longer ones 120 days. Deposits are not refunded, and the line sells a protection plan separately.

Who is it best for? Adults and couples who want better food and design than the big mass-market ships, and who accept a higher daily spend. Families can sail, but the kids programs are not the main draw. Compare it with others in the which cruise line quiz, and read the Celebrity gratuity page and the drink package page.
