Where these numbers come from

Tampa is unusual because every paid facility gives the first hour free. After that, the Short Term and Long Term garages charge $8 per hour and Economy charges $5 per hour, each limited by a 24-hour maximum of $32, $26 and $22 respectively. Maximum stay is 45 days in all three.

The free hour changes short-visit arithmetic. A two-hour pickup costs $8 in either garage and $5 in Economy. Three hours costs $16 in a garage and $10 in Economy. A four-hour stay in the Long Term Garage is $24, just under its $26 cap, and the fifth hour reaches the cap. Economy hits $22 after five paid hours, since 5 x $5 is $25.

Cost of full days at the cap: three days is $66 in Economy, $78 in the Long Term Garage and $96 in the Short Term Garage. A week is $154, $182 and $224. Two weeks is $308, $364 and $448. So Economy saves $28 over the Long Term Garage in a week and $70 against the Short Term Garage, and over two weeks those savings double to $56 and $140.

Economy connects to the terminal by the SkyConnect train rather than a shuttle bus, and its clearance ranges from 8 to 13 feet, which accommodates tall vehicles. The Short Term Garage has a 6 foot 8 inch clearance and the Long Term Garage has 7 feet 10 inches, so check your vehicle. All three accept cash, cards, SunPass Plus, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and have e-charging stations.

Think of the hourly rate as a short-visit tool. For a 5-hour layover-style trip, Economy costs $5 x 4 paid hours = $20, the Long Term Garage costs $26 (capped) and the Short Term Garage costs $32 (capped). The gap between tiers on a single-day trip is therefore $6 to $12.

We did not verify a separate off-site operator price for Tampa, so none is shown, and the page does not say whether the SkyConnect ride has a charge, so shuttle status is left unset. Test your own stay in the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator. For another hourly-plus-cap structure, see Austin or Dulles.
