Where these numbers come from

Portland's setup is clean. Three self-park choices share the same $4 hourly rate and differ only in the daily cap: $30 in the short-term garage, $24 in the long-term garages and $15 in the economy lot. Valet is priced separately at $10 an hour or $45 a day. There is no reservation system, so space is first come, first served.

Start with a weekend. Three days in the economy lot costs 3 x $15 = $45. The long-term garage is 3 x $24 = $72, and the short-term garage is 3 x $30 = $90. Economy saves $27 against long-term and $45 against short-term. Since the economy lot's shuttle runs every 7-9 minutes during the day, the extra walk and ride rarely cost much time.

The economy lot has a perk the garages lack: the airport says the seventh day is free on a week-long stay. A seven-day trip then costs 6 x $15 = $90 instead of 7 x $15 = $105. That is $15 saved and roughly $13 a day averaged. For a 14-day stay the plain arithmetic is 14 x $15 = $210 before any credit, and the published wording only mentions week-long stays, so confirm how the free day works beyond seven days.

Drivers with a disability placard pay no more than $15 a day in any garage or the economy lot. That makes the closest garage affordable: a seven-day trip is 7 x $15 = $105, against $210 at the standard short-term rate. Disabled veterans can park free in the economy lot for up to 14 consecutive days with documents.

Hourly math matters for short visits. At $4 an hour, the $15 economy cap is reached after about four hours. The $30 short-term cap arrives after 7.5 hours. Motorcycle and bicycle parking at the terminal is free. Vehicles left beyond 30 days should be reported to the parking office to avoid towing. To compare with California alternatives, see San Jose and Sacramento, or test your own dates in the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator.

One more check before you choose: the airport offers live economy shuttle tracking at pdxparkingshuttle.com, which helps when you land late. Also weigh the cost against a ride. If two ride-hail fares total $60, that equals four days of economy parking at 4 x $15 = $60, so short trips can tie.
