Where these numbers come from

Austin-Bergstrom posted a rate change in May 2026. Economy parking rose from $12 to $14 per day, effective May 12, 2026. Drivers who entered before 11:59 p.m. on May 11 paid the old rate for the whole stay. The advisory says the Red and Blue garages kept their existing rates. The airport parking guide lists $5 per hour at every facility, with daily maximums of $32 for the Red Garage and Short-Term and $23 for Blue. Its Economy figure of $12 predates the advisory, so we use $14.

Trip arithmetic with the current rates: three days costs $42 in Economy, $69 in the Blue Garage and $96 in the Red Garage. A week costs $98, $161 and $224. Two weeks costs $196, $322 and $448. The Blue Garage therefore saves $63 over a week compared with Red, and Economy saves $126 against Red over the same week.

The hourly rate of $5 reaches each cap at a different point. Blue hits $23 after five hours, since 5 x $5 is $25. Red and Short-Term hit $32 after seven hours, because 6 x $5 is $30 and the seventh hour brings it past $32. The same $5 hourly applies in Economy, but the $14 daily maximum is reached after three hours.

The $2 increase shows how a small daily change compounds: on a 7-day trip it adds $14, and on 14 days it adds $28. If you booked a lot before the change, check which rate applies. Economy shuttles run 24/7, every 10 to 15 minutes, and the lots are the closest surface parking to the Barbara Jordan Terminal.

To judge the two garages, imagine a 6-hour stay. At $5 per hour, Blue costs $23 (capped), Red costs $30, and Economy costs $14 (capped). Only beyond seven hours does Red reach its $32 cap, so a short trip in Red can still cost less than its maximum, while Blue and Economy reach their maximums sooner.

The garage figures come from an airport guide page that does not show a date, while the Economy figure comes from a dated advisory, so check the current garage price before relying on it. No verified off-site rate is included. Use the airport parking on-site vs off-site calculator for break-even math. For a similar garage pairing see Midway or Salt Lake City.
