Where these numbers come from

Allegiant sells a bare fare and charges for almost everything else. The free personal item is 8 x 14 x 18 inches, which is the same as an 18 x 14 x 8 inch bag, and it must fit completely under the seat. The carry-on is larger at 10 x 16 x 22 inches and costs extra, from about $10 at booking to $75 at the airport. Allegiant notes that airport prices are higher and oversized cabin bags may be gate-checked.

Checked bag prices depend on the route, the date and when you buy. Allegiant does not print one number, and instead provides a baggage fees calculator that shows the price for your flights. One summary from July 2026 puts online checked prices around $20 to $30 and up, and a flat $75 at the airport. Treat those as estimates and check the calculator for your own dates.

An example shows the per-segment catch. All fees are charged per bag, per segment. A nonstop round trip has two segments, so a $10 carry-on at booking costs $20 in total. The same carry-on bought at the airport for $75 costs $150 for the round trip. The difference of $130 is larger than many Allegiant fares. A trip with a connection has four segments and multiplies the charge again.

Size and weight limits differ from most airlines. A standard checked bag may weigh 50 pounds and measure up to 80 linear inches, well above the 62 inches used by major carriers. Bags from 51 to 70 pounds add $50, and bags from 71 to 100 pounds add $75. An oversize bag over 80 inches adds $75. Nothing over 99 pounds is accepted, and you can reserve up to four bags online.

Allegiant's extra charges are lower than the $100 and $200 overweight fees at Delta or United, and its oversize limit is more forgiving. But its base carry-on and checked prices are route based and climb at the airport. The right comparison is the final total for your route, including seat fees, rather than the headline fare.

Plug your quoted price into the total bag cost calculator or test a heavy case with the overweight and oversize fee calculator. Compare Frontier and Southwest, which price bags differently, and use the bag fit finder to check sizes.
