Where these numbers come from

Royal Caribbean sells the Deluxe Beverage Package for alcohol, plus a Refreshment Package and a Classic Soda Package for non-alcoholic drinks. Deluxe is the one shoppers weigh. The line's own pages explain the rules well but leave the per-day price to the booking screen, so the price here comes from a dated tracker.

A tracker dated September 29, 2026 put the fleet median at about $83.99 per day and the range at roughly $57 to $120, depending on ship and sailing. The 18% gratuity is not in that number. The line's FAQ confirms it is added automatically to package purchases, before or during the cruise. At the median, the all-in price becomes $83.99 x 1.18 = $99.11 a day.

Here is the break-even math. A drink has to be covered, so assume a $12 menu price. With the 18% charge it costs $14.16. Dividing $99.11 by $14.16 gives 7.0 drinks a day to break even. Over a 7-night trip for two adults, 2 x 7 x $99.11 = $1,387.54. If you drink four a day each, pay-as-you-go costs 2 x 7 x 4 x $14.16 = $792.96, so the package loses. The drink package calculator takes your own prices.

The cap is $14 for any single beverage item. A drink priced $16 costs you the $2 difference. Premium wines and super-premium spirits above the cap are where the package leaks value. The Freestyle cup is no longer part of Deluxe or Refreshment as of March 15, 2026.

The rules are strict. Any guest of legal drinking age in the stateroom must buy the same alcoholic package, and packages are single-guest use. They are honored at bars, lounges, the Windjammer, the main dining room and private destinations. Room service and the mini bar are not included, and purchases cannot be canceled after 48 hours.

When the package makes sense: heavy drinkers and anyone who likes coffee, juices and mocktails too. For light drinkers, the kids-friendly Classic Soda or Refreshment packages or a pay-as-you-go tab are cheaper. Compare the total on the cruise vs all-inclusive calculator, then read the Royal Caribbean gratuity page and the Royal Caribbean overview.
