Where these numbers come from
Singapore Airlines treats the United States as a piece-concept market, so Economy passengers get two checked bags of up to 23 kg each. That is the most generous baseline among the carriers in this group, because Economy fares carry no separate bag charge. Premium Economy uses the same 23 kg limit per piece, while First and Business allow 32 kg per piece. Some loyalty tiers add a third piece.
The cabin rule is more flexible about shape than most. Instead of three separate dimensions, the airline allows one piece of up to 7 kg whose length, width and height add up to no more than 115 cm, or about 45 inches. A standard 22 x 14 x 9 inch carry-on totals 45 inches, so it sits right at the limit. Because the page gives no separate L x W x H, the bag fit checker treats it as a linear limit.
You may also carry one extra item at no charge. The page names a handbag, a laptop in its bag, a camera bag and a document bag. Each may measure up to 40 x 30 x 10 cm, which is thin. If the item passes 80 cm in combined dimensions, it counts toward your main allowance instead. A slim laptop sleeve is fine. A padded backpack usually is not.
Worked example, round trip with three checked bags. The third piece costs $150 in the direct North America band, per direction, so the round trip adds $300. Buying that piece at least 48 hours before departure takes 20 percent off, which brings it to $120 each way and $240 round trip. Now a different case: two bags included, one at 26 kg. The overweight charge is $100 per direction, or $200 round trip. A bag that is too long, above 158 cm, is also charged $100 in this band.
The charges above are the standard airport rates for the direct North America band; other bands cost more, up to $350 for an additional piece. Two free bags often make Singapore Airlines cheaper than carriers that bill the second bag.
