Why this fits you

Your match: Virgin Voyages, the adults-only line

Virgin Voyages is the only adults-only line in our ten. The minimum age is 18 to book and sail, and the drinking age is 21 on U.S. itineraries and in Alaska. There is no buffet, and the line sets no dress code for the evenings. Scarlet Night invites guests to wear red but sets no rules. The ships are built around design, wellness, nightlife and dining, which appeals to couples, friends and solo travelers who want a grown-up setting. If you need children aboard, pick a different result.

Our fact box, from Virgin's official pages and checked on 2026-09-30, lists advertised starting prices. A 7-night Mexican Riviera sailing from Los Angeles starts from $693 per sailor. A 7-night Western Caribbean sailing from Miami starts from $973, and a 7-night Greek Isles sailing starts from $1,393. These are starting prices, so the actual price on your date and cabin may differ. Taxes and fees are not included. The deposit is 20 percent of the fare only, excluding taxes and fees, and final payment is due 120 days before sailing, or in full at booking if inside 120 days.

The fare includes more than most lines. Dining is included at more than 20 venues, along with basic drinks, Wi-Fi, group fitness classes and entertainment. Basic drinks are water, sodas, tea, coffee and non-pressed juice, so alcohol is extra. Virgin uses a Bar Tab approach for drinks rather than a drink package. Because so much is included, the comparison with other lines should include what you would pay on those lines for Wi-Fi, specialty restaurants and fitness classes. The cruise cost calculator is designed for that kind of full comparison.

The gratuity is where to be careful. For bookings made on or after October 7, 2025, the nightly service gratuity is $22 per sailor on board, or $20 if prepaid. The prepaid amount is non-refundable once on board. Earlier bookings include gratuities in the fare, which can make a difference of about $154 per person on a 7-night sailing. Check your booking date before you budget, and use the gratuity calculator to total the charge for your party and trip length. Also budget for alcohol, specialty coffee bags and spa services, which are not included.

Virgin fits travelers who value design, dining and a quiet-from-children setting. It fits less well if you want a traditional formal dining room, a large water park or a fixed routine. It also fits poorly for anyone who wants children in the group. If you like the calmer style but want a more classic approach, compare the traditional and premium group. If you want the lowest fare, compare the value group. Use the cost tools to check whether what Virgin includes outweighs a higher base fare for your trip.
